We particularly enjoy working with small producers — individuals who are genuinely committed to producing high-quality goods and treating their work with care and respect. That is why we are excited to introduce you to Mountea, a family-run business from Armenia born out of a passion for herbal teas. At the heart of what they do is a simple idea that we can also relate to: using good raw ingredients, not burdening them with anything unnecessary and preserving what nature has given in the tea.
Mountea uses only natural ingredients in its teas, with no artificial flavourings, colourings or additives. This is important to us because when a blend contains nothing unnecessary, the purity of the taste and the natural character of the herbs are much clearer. The herbs gathered in these places have long been valued not only for their aroma, but also for their gentle healing properties — their ability to warm, calm and support breathing and digestion, and to simply restore a sense of inner balance.
The ingredients for these teas are gathered in the highland regions of Armenia — Vayots Dzor, Gegharkunik and Tavush. And these places explain a great deal. Vayots Dzor is a land of mountains, valleys, plateaus and dry, transparent air. Gegharkunik is the land around Lake Sevan, a great alpine lake surrounded by open, light-filled landscapes. Tavush is quite different: wooded, gentler, greener, with mountain meadows, moist air and an abundance of wild-growing plants. All of these places share what matters so much in a good herbal tea: clean mountain air, forests, alpine meadows and a closeness to unspoiled nature. That is why these blends carry something essential so clearly — the nature of Armenia, its mountains, its herbs, and its calm, natural character.
